Additional Deputy Commissioner or ADC Shaikh Murshidul Islam got into an argument on Monday with former acting civil surgeon Salah Uddin Sharif over entering the premises of a school, supervised by the district administration.

The argument led to a scuffle between the two.

Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila administration chief or UNO Md Nooruzzaman set up a mobile court immediately after the incident and jailed Sharif for three months on charges of ‘misconduct with a government official’.

On Tuesday, the retired public servant secured bail from a magistrate’s court.

Following the incident, which was widely reported in the media, the High Court on Tuesday summoned ADC Islam and UNO Nooruzzaman.

The two have been ordered to appear before the court on Dec 13. The court has also ordered Sharif to be present on that day.

Soon after the court summons, the administration initiated measures against the ADC.

The public administration ministry in an order removed him from the district administration and attached him to the ministry as an officer on special duty or OSD.

The OSD provision is used as a punitive action against public servants.
