“The women wearing the uniform would soon be seen driving the post office vehicles,” the state minister for post and telecommunications said at an International Women's Day programme in Dhaka on Saturday.

"I think women are careful as drivers and cause fewer accidents," she said.

"That's why women will be appointed as drivers for 20 percent of the vehicles we are procuring," she added.

Energis sponsored the discussion titled 'Her Story' at Midas Center in Dhanmondi to highlight women's diverse participation in Bangladesh's development.

Artist Kanak Chapa Chakma, Suraiya Zannath, senior financial management specialist at Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), ICDDRB Emeritus Scientist Dr Firdausi Qadri and Berger Paints Managing Director Rupali Chowdhury were present.

An exhibition of paintings by 19 female artists was also opened. It will continue from 9am to 8pm until Mar 30.
