Addressing a media call, Annisul Huq said, “Those who have put up such illegal billboards should remove them voluntarily or we shall send our magistrate to dismantle them.”
The city corporation’s clearance is mandatory for putting up billboards and banners in the city.
However, with an eye on political events, parties put up illegal displays in the form of banners and billboards, which stay on even after the events.
A drive would be launched to remove the displays, the mayor said, requesting those who have erected them to remove them on their own.
On Aug 14, the High Court issued directives to remove illegal banners and other displays.
The court also asked the two city corporations to issue directives and implement its orders by Aug 22.
