Queen Mother of Bhutan arrives in Dhaka on five-day visit

The Queen Mother of Bhutan, Tshering Pem Wangchuck, has arrived in Dhaka on a five-day visit.

The foreign ministry’s Secretary (bilateral and consular) Mizanur Rahman received her at Shahjalal International Airport on Monday morning.

She was accompanied by Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, Vice President of the Youth Development Fund (YDF), a voluntary organisation that manages and provides resources to various youth development projects in Bhutan.

The delegation also includes a five-member team from the YDF.

Tshering Pem’s is also the YDF president.

During her visit, the Queen Mother will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and the National Museum.

She will visit one of BRAC’s regional offices to see the rural development programmes.

She also plans to visit a Beximco Industrial Park to see textiles, garments and ceramic enterprises, among other places, before leaving Dhaka on Mar 18.
