Shaban elected president and Sohel general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists

Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) has elected Shaban Mahmud as its president and Sohel Haider Chowdhury as general secretary.

Mahmud bagged 857 votes while his nearest candidate Kuddus Afrad got 667 votes on Saturday.
 
Another president candidate of the pro-Awami League organisation, Abu Zafar Surjo, got 277 votes.
 
Chowdhury got 534 votes to secure the post of general secretary.
 
His nearest candidate Sazzad Alam Khan Tapu got 448 votes.
 

Mortuza Haider Liton

bdnews24.com Senior Correspondent Mortuza Haider Liton has been elected executive member. He bagged 615 votes.
Other office bearers of the new committee are Vice-President Atikur Rahman Chowdhury, Joint Secretary Shahana Sheuli, Treasurer Sebika Rani, Organising Secretary Md Shahjahan Mia, Publicity Secretary Akter Hossain, Sports and Cultural Affairs Secretary Mafizur Rahman Khan Babu, Welfare Secretary Ummul Wara Sweety, and Office Secretary Moniruzzaman Ujjal.
Other executive members are Shamima Akhter, AM Shahjahan Mia, Salimullah Selim, Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury, Dulal Khan, Soheli Chowdhury, Debashish Roy and Manjusri Biswas.
National Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman announced the results on Saturday night after the voting held from 9am to 5pm.
Of the total 3,000 voters, 2,012 cast their votes.
