Selina Hossain named Shishu Academy Chairperson

The government has appointed eminent litterateur Selina Hossin as the Chairperson of Bangladesh Shishu Academy for next two years.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification to this effect on Wednesday requesting her to relinquish working relations with all other organisations.

A former Director of Bangla Academy, Selina Hossain would replace Sheikh Abdul Ahad, who is also the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, it said.
Born in 1947, Selina Hossain received a number of awards including Dr. Muhammad Enamul Huq Gold Medal (1969), Bangla Academy Award (1980), Alaol Literary Award (1981), Philips Literary Prize (1994), D.Litt from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2010), Rabindra Smriti Puraskar by the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM), New Delhi (2010), Ekushey Podak (2008).
Selina Hossain’s first novel ‘Jalochchhwas’ (The High Tide) was published in 1972.
The popular novelist and short story writer is also the founder of Fareea Lara Foundation, a charity.
