AL MP dies

Ruling Awami League MP Mizanur Rahman Khan Dipu, 49, has died at a Dhaka hospital.

He died of brain haemorrhage around 3am on Saturday, the MP's personal assistant Abu Ahmed Lipu told bdnews24.com.

Lipu said that the ruling party MP was rushed to the city's Apollo Hospital on Friday night from his Uttara home after feeling sick.

President Md Abdul Hamid expressed his condolences and said that the country has lost a promising politician.
His funeral prayers will be held at 12 pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, said a statement issued by the Awami League.
Born in 1964 at Old Dhaka's Kulutola, Dipu was a businessman. He owned a shipping company but was also a sports organiser and patron.
Dipu was a standing committee member of two football clubs in Dhaka and a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for youth and sports ministry.
A first-time lawmaker elected from Dhaka-6 constituency, Dipu had defeated BNP's Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka in the 2008 National Elections.
