The prime minister has warned of stern action against the films that create a negative impact on the society.

Dhaka, July 23 (bdnews24.com) – The prime minister has warned of stern action against the films that create a negative impact on the society.
Addressing the award giving ceremony of the 34th National Film Awards at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city on Saturday, Sheikh Hasina urged all to come forward to produce good quality films.
"The films which are not suitable to enjoy with the family members and can misguide the country's youth and society should not be produced. The government is very clear on that," she said.
Right at the beginning of her speech, Hasina congratulated the national film award winners of 2009.
'Lifetime Achievement Award' has been added to the film awards this year for the first time, and veteran actress Sultana Jaman has been given the prestigious award for her outstanding performances and contribution to the Bangladeshi film industry.
Monpura, a film directed by Giasuddin Selim, has received the best film award for 2009. In the absence of producer Anjan Chowdhury, Al Javed received the award from the prime minister on behalf of Masranga Production.
The best director award has gone to Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond for his film Gongajatra.
Chanchal Chowdhury and Ferdous shared the award of best actor for their roles in Monpura and Gongajatra, respectively.
Referring to the role of films play in building a society, Hasina said through films, people could be informed about lot many things, "apart from them being a powerful medium of entertainment for the people".
Dwelling upon the contribution of films during the Liberation War, the prime minister said that the film 'Stop Genocide' of Zahir Raihan had fetched massive support for the war across the world.
She urged all to produce films based on the history of the Liberation War. Hasina also called on filmmakers to produce films for the children.
