Shanghai Electric win Sylhet power plant bid

Chinese concern Shanghai Electric Group has been awarded the contract to build a 150 megawatt power plant in Sylhet at a projected cost of over Tk 7 billion.

Dhaka, Aug 27 (bdnews24.com)—Chinese concern Shanghai Electric Group has been awarded the contract to build a 150 megawatt power plant in Sylhet at a projected cost of over Tk 7 billion.
The decision was taken on Thursday by the cabinet committee on public purchase.
Cabinet secretary Md Abdul Aziz told reporters Shanghai Electric won the contract as the lowest bidder construct a 100-150 megawatt combined-cycle gas-turbine power plant in Sylhet.
The meeting also awarded ENCW Toma-JB the contract to renovate over 37 kilometres of rail line in Chittagong under Bangladesh Railway, at a projected cost Tk 650 million.
A further contract was awarded to Messrs Kushali to build residential properties for government employees to purchase on two plots in Mirpur at a cost Tk 320 million.
