Salahuddin Ahmed appointed new AG

Dhaka, July 20 (bdnews24.com) -- Salahuddin Ahmed, now additional attorney general, was appointed new AG on Sunday, after the resignation of Fida M Kamal, an official said.
Ahmed had also worked for Dr Kamal Hossain and Associates.
In his reaction to bdnews24.com, Ahmed said: "At the moment this is a job with great responsibility. Due to the present political situation it would be more difficult than before to discharge the responsibility."
"Time will say whether I will be able to perform the duties."
Ahmed studied economics at London School of Economics in 1969 and received his master's degree from the University of London.
Ahmed did his LLB from Dhaka University in 1978 and LLM from Columbia University in 1984.
He worked as an assistant professor at the economics department of Dhaka University from 1971 to 1977. He was an assistant professor at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the university from 1980 to 1983.
He joined the bar in 1980 and the High Court bar in 1982.
Born in 1948, Ahmed was appointed additional attorney general on Feb 13, 2007.
His father Sultan Uddin Ahmed was the governor of the then East Pakistan in 1958.
