Alamgir Kabir, Shamsul Alam Pramanik sued for backing JMB

An Atrai teacher tortured by JMB operatives sued former state minister Alamgir Kabir and former lawmaker Shamsul Alam Pramanik Tuesday for backing the banned militant outfit.They are among the 36 people who face the same allegations in the case filed with the Naogaon district court. Plaintiff Anisur Rahman Master said he was tortured by Bangla Bhai, who was hanged on March 30 for killing two judges in Jhalakathi. Judge Fazlul Huq asked Atrai's acting police chief Ismail Miah to open an investigation into the case.

Naogaon, Apr 17 (bdnews24.com) -- An Atrai teacher tortured by JMB operatives sued former state minister Alamgir Kabir and former lawmaker Shamsul Alam Pramanik Tuesday for backing the banned militant outfit.
They are among the 36 people who face the same allegations in the case filed with the Naogaon district court.
Plaintiff Anisur Rahman Master said he was tortured by Bangla Bhai, who was hanged on March 30 for killing two judges in Jhalakathi.
Judge Fazlul Huq asked Atrai's acting police chief Ismail Miah to open an investigation into the case.
Rahman, headmaster of Boraikur Primary School, alleged that up to 40 accomplices of Bangla Bhai came to his house, beat him and led him away on April 21, 2004.
The militants demanded Tk 1 lakh in ransom from Rahman, he alleged.
According to details in the case, the same day Alamgir Kabir asked the son of Rahman to pay the money demanded by Bangla Bhai for his father's freedom.
Next day, the gang looted Tk 1 lakh from the house of Rahman in a raid, according to allegations in the case.
Rahman named former BNP MP Shamsul Alam Pramanik as an abettor of JMB activities.
Contacted, the Atrai acting police chief confirmed the filing of the case but refused to give further details.
