RAB DG, SB chief removed

Director General (DG) of RAB and the chief of Special Branch (SB) of police have lost their jobs with their contractual appointments cancelled in the first move of the caretaker government to shuffle the police administration, sources in the police and RAB said Tuesday.

Dhaka, Oct 31 (bdnews24.com) – Director General (DG) of RAB and the chief of Special Branch (SB) of police have lost their jobs with their contractual appointments cancelled in the first move of the caretaker government to shuffle the police administration, sources in the police and RAB said Tuesday.
Abdul Aziz Sarkar, DG of RAB and Additional Inspector General of police, Forrukh Ahmed, also the chief of SB, have been asked to leave office, sources added.
The shuffle in the police administration came two days after President Iajuddin Ahmed took over as chief advisor.
Earlier, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina put forward an 11-point demand to the new caretaker chief, which included the shuffle of police administration by November 3 to prove his [President] 'neutrality'.
AL sources said that Hasina submitted three 'black lists' of partisan police personnel.
The demands include, cancellation of all contractual appointments in the police department, transfer of some policemen to 'non functional' posts during elections and transfer of some policemen as OSD [Officer on Special Duty].
