Arrest warrants on Jamuna group Chief, publisher, editor and news editor of Jugantor

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court Tuesday issued arrest warrants on the Managing Director of the Jamuna Group , the publisher, the editor and the news editor of the Daily Jugantor in a defamation suit.

Dhaka, Aug1 (BDNEWS)—The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court Tuesday issued arrest warrants on the Managing Director of the Jamuna Group , the publisher, the editor and the news editor of the Daily Jugantor in a defamation suit.
After hearing two cases filed by the Chairman of the Basundhara Group against them, the court issued the warrants.
Earlier, on Monday, the court issued summons on the same persons after two cases were filed by the same petitioner.
The chairman of the group, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, filed the two cases following two news items published in the daily Jugantor-- one on 27th July with the headline "Mafia Don Shah Alam is under vigilance of intelligence groups" and on July 28 with the headline "The King Brand Cement of Basundhara Group mixes low quality fly ash".
Magistrate Syed Mohammad Mujubul Huque heard the submission of the plaintiff in both cases and issued arrest warrants on the accused persons.
The accused are chief of the Jamuna Group, Nurul Islam Babul, Jugantor publisher Salma Islam, editor Golam Sarwar and news editor Ahmed Faruque Hassan.
