Dhaka, July 23 (BDNEWS) – The fourth anniversary of police atrocity in Shamsunnahar hall was observed Sunday.
With utter condemnation and profound grief, students of four female halls lit candles at 12:01 am. Students of Shamsunnahar hall brought out a procession from the foot of 'Aparajeyo Bangla' and it ended at the hall.
Besides, different other organisations observed the day with various programmes.
Chhatra League organised a photography exhibition at 'Battala' over the barbaric incident at Shamsunnahar hall.
Later, they led a procession binding their faces with black cloths from Modhu's Canteen, which ended at the central Shaheed Minar.
Chhatra League president Mahmud Hasan Ripon and general secretary Mahfuzul Haidar Chowdhury Roton demanded immediate publication of the investigation report.
"We want the report to be published...and the convicts to be brought into book", they said in a brief rally after the procession.
Chhatra Dal, however, accused Prof Sultana Shafi for the incident. Over the photography exhibition, the JCD leaders observed, ' the students of this generation should erect the effigy of the then provost Sultana Shafi".
Pragatishil Chhatra Jote and Chhatra Union brought out processions and drew wall paintings at the hall condemning the incidents. They also demanded the report to be brought out right now.
Chhatra Union, meanwhile, brought out a candle-lit procession.
