Islamic University, July 20 (BDNEWS) – Demanding immediate appointment of a VC, the teachers association of the Islamic University in Kushtia began an indefinite paralying the university.
Though the administrative works partially continued, academic activities were completely stopped, sources said.
Teachers came to campus but boycotted all the classes and examinations of 20 departments. Besides, examinations of different departments were suspended for indefinite period.
The students, however, expressed their discontent fearing session jam.
"We have already two years of jam in our academic session," a disgruntled student said.
Prof Foyez Muhammad Sirajul Haque, president of teachers association, said, "The association will withdraw the programme as soon as a new VC takes over."
Meanwhile, along with Zia Parishad, Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Parishad, Jatiyatabadi White forum and Jamaat-leaning Green forum, and some other organisations expressed their solidarity with the movement.
Acting VC ASM Anwarul Karim said, "Teachers could discuss the issue with chancellor before abstaining from classes and examinations. Teachers should withdraw their programme right now".
Earlier, on July 8, teachers placed demands with the PM for appointing a new VC within 10 days.
