102nd birth anniversary of noted folklorist Mansuruddin observed

Dhaka, Jan 31 (BDNEWS)- Mansuruddin Folklore Institute (MFI) arranged a discussion programme on the folklorist Prof Dr. Muhammad Mansuruddin's life and activities on his 102nd birth anniversary at its Elephant road coordination office on Tuesday.
Executive Director of MIF researcher Prof Ali Niamat presided over the programme while the founder of the research and social development organisation 'the Generation' and also an international personality Md. Sanwar Hossain attended as the chief guest, according to a press release.
Among others Prof Dr. M. Nurunnabi and Prof. Sohela Parvin participated in the discussion.
The chief guest said, "Neither the government nor the non government organisations attempted to observe the 100th birth anniversary of Mansuruddin in 2004. This year, on his 102nd birth anniversary neither any newspaper nor any TV channel published or aired any news or programme on the renowned folklorist.
Prof Ali Niamat said, Prof Mansuruddin is known throughout the sub-continent for his deep knowledge on the subject. He said Mansuruddin who is well known for his compilation of folklore under the title "Haramoni" received Bangla Academy award, Ekushey Padak and Independence Day award.
The death anniversary of Mansuruddin's son and founder Secretary General of MFI, Sufi Shah Jamaluddin's is also on January 31, said a press release.
