Mohammad Abdul Quaiyum made new IGP

Dhaka, May 5 (BDNEWS) - The government Thursday brought change in the top post of police administration within a month.
Mohammad Abdul Quaiyum, additional inspector general of police of Special Branch, has been made the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He will replace Mohammad Hadis Uddin, who was made OSD.
Earlier, on April 7, Hadis Uddin was made IGP after expiry of the contract of Ashraful Huda.
On April 6, it was reported in media that Abdul Quaiyum was being made new IGP. But few hours later, the government appointed additional inspector general of police
Mohammad Hadis Uddin as the new IGP.
Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Abdul Quayum started his career as the BCS (police) cadre service officer of 1973 batch.
After commissioning, he served the force in various capacities, including Police Super of Noakhali, Rajshahi, Naogaon and Sylhet, Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch, AIGP in Police Headquarters, DIG of Police, Additional DMP Commissioner and DMP Commissioner, and Principal of Sardah Police Academy.
Quayum, who took training from Brahmsil staff college in the UK, was the additional IGP of special branch before being promoted to the rank of IGP. He will take over the charge on Saturday.
He obtained Honours and Masters degrees in Economics from Dhaka University. Quyaum is father of two sons and one daughter.
