Dhaka, March 28 (BDNEWS) – Abu Lais Mubin Choudhury has been given nomination from ruling BNP for contesting in the Habiganj-3 by-election slated for April 25.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BNP parliamentary board with its chairperson and Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in the chair Monday noon.
Two BNP leaders - Abu Lais Mubin Choudhury, a former MP from Jatiya party and Advocate Chowdhury Ashraful Bari Noman, former Habiganj district BNP general secretary – appeared before the board seeking nomination.
Among others, the meeting was attended by party secretary general and LGRD minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, Chief Whip Khandaker Delwar Hossain, Dr R A Gani, minister Abdul Matin Chowdhury, Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed and KM Obaidur Rahman MP, Chowdhury Tanvir Ahmed Siddique.
The Habiganj-3 seat fell vacant following the assassination of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, MP, in a deadly grenade attack on January 27.
