Travellers from Bangladesh visiting Europe on a Schengen visa must follow the travel plan submitted with their visa application, embassies of those countries in Dhaka have warned.

Failure to do so may create uncertainty over future visa applications to Schengen states, according to a notice issued simultaneously on Monday by several embassies, including Germany’s.

“If your Schengen visa has been approved, congratulations!” the notice said. “Make sure to follow the travel plan you submitted in your application.”

“Deviating from your predetermined travel plan may result in refusal of future visas to Schengen countries,” the notice cautioned.

A Schengen visa usually allows short stays of up to 90 days in the Schengen area, which covers 29 European countries.

The visa also allows travellers to visit other Schengen states after obtaining it from the embassy of one member country.
