Bangladesh A have edged past India A in a thrilling semi-final, producing a match packed with explosive hitting, sharp bowling, and chaotic fielding.
After a tense finale, the Tigers emerged victorious.
On Friday in Qatar’s Doha, Bangladesh posted 194 in 20 overs, powered by a whirlwind 50 from Habibur Rahman Sohan and a brutal late assault from SM Meherob.
India A kept pace, but a dramatic last-ball misfield by captain Akbar Ali tied the game, sending it to a decider.
Ripon Mondol starred with the ball, taking two wickets in two deliveries to prevent India scoring in the final over.
Yasir Ali dispatched a leg-spinner for a boundary, only for Ramanandip Singh to pull off a superb catch.
Akbar then misjudged a googly, gifting a wide and sealing Bangladesh’s triumph.
Earlier, Akbar’s miscues had brought India back into the contest.
On the penultimate ball, India needed four runs, but a risky second run saw the chance for a run-out slip, allowing the visitors to tie.
Bangladesh’s innings had been aggressive from the start. Despite losing the toss and being sent in, they raced to 43 in four overs.
Sohan anchored the innings with a 32-ball 50, while Meherab finished with 48 off 18 balls, including four sixes and a four, striking at 266.66. Yasir added 17* from 9 deliveries.
India’s chase began explosively, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya putting on 53 in 3.1 overs.
Suryavanshi fell for 38 from 15 balls, and Naman Dhir managed only 7.
Arya struck 44 off 23 balls, Jitesh Sharma 31 off 23, and Ramanandeep Singh 17 off 11, keeping India in contention.
Nehal Wadhera held one end, but a dropped catch in the 19th over allowed India to inch closer.
Ripon’s final over restricted India to five runs while 16 were required, setting up the dramatic finish.
Bangladesh A now await the winner of Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A in Sunday’s final.
