High Commissioner Pranay Verma has said India and Bangladesh are standing at the cusp of a new era and have the opportunity to chart a course for shared growth and regional advancement.
On Saturday, Verma underscored the enduring friendship and deep societal ties that make the bilateral relationship genuinely “people-centric”.
“As two vibrant and forward-looking societies, we stand at the threshold of a promising future -- one in which we can work together, to bring shared prosperity, not only to our two countries, but also to the wider region,” Verma said at an Iftar event at the InterContinental Dhaka.
He reiterated India’s unwavering support for “a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh”, and reflected on the nations’ rich history and profound cultural connection.
“The indelible memory of our shared sacrifices during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 continues to unite our peoples,” he said.
In the event hosted by the Indian High Commission, Verma highlighted the significance of the gathering, saying it reaffirms the “shared commitment to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our peoples”.
He extended warm wishes for Ramadan, calling for unity and solidarity in building a better future together.
