His comment came hours after the BNP repeated its demand for pushing back the 11th parliamentary election by a month.

BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing on Tuesday said, “December 25 is the biggest religious festival of the Christian community.  Foreign observers and ambassadors and high commissioners of different countries and officials of foreign missions will be on leave due to the New Year.

“The EC set December 30 as the election day at the government’s bidding so that the election can be rigged in the absence of poll observers.”

In response to Rizvi’s comment, Quader said: “The election time cannot depend foreign observers.”

“Would they delay the election in their own counties, if Bangladesh observers failed to reach there?” he said.

“They are taking part in the election but raising a lot of allegations at the same time.”
