Uefa announced Messi's second goal in the first leg of Champions League semifinal against Bayern Munich winner of the European prize on Thursday.

The game was deadlocked until 77 minutes but then Messi netted twice before Neymar added another as Barca went away at Allianz Arena with a hefty 3-0 advantage.

The 28-year old sharply cut past Jerome Boateng to leave the Bayern defender floundering and chipped over Manuel Neuer to register the brace in three minutes.

The Argentina captain shrugged aside Ronaldo's poll of 24 votes percent by earning a staggering 39 percent (507,478 votes) for his Camp Nou delight.

Portuguese forward Ronaldo was second for his strike against Liverpool while Arsenal Welshman Aaron Ramsey's goal against Galatasaray came out third with nine percent votes, according to the Uefa website.

The Catalans went on to lift the trophy beating Juventus 3-1 in the final in Germany's Olympiastadion and sealed an unprecedented second continental treble after 2008-09.
