Sharif Nurul Ambia and Nazmul Haque Prodhan, the leaders of the rebel JaSoD faction, issued a statement on Tuesday, a day after Syed Ashraf commented that Awami League will have to ‘atone’ making Inu the information minister.

The Awami League leader held JaSoD responsible for creating a situation that led to the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The statement, on the other hand, said it was ‘unreasonable and unfortunate’ to point a finger at entire JaSoD for ‘the shameful role of an extremely obsequious minister’.

“There can be a debate over our relations with Awami League from 1972 to 1975. JaSoD and others’ mistakes can be topics of discussions,” it said.

But it should be remembered that we took part in the historic struggles against military rulers by forming 10-party and 15-party alliances with Awami League,” it added.
