The chief justice-led Appellate Division bench disposed of the petition by acting Mayor Asadur Rahman on Wednesday without issuing any order.

“No order,” said the court.

On Monday, the High Court halted the local government ministry’s order suspending the BNP leader in August last year after a court indicted him for criminal offences.

Panel Mayor Asadur Rahman has been serving as an acting mayor since then.

Mannan, an adviser to BNP chief Khaleda Zia, had moved High Court, challenging the order, following which the court stayed it for six months.

The court also issued a rule asking why Mannan’s suspension should not be declared illegal.

The acting mayor moved Supreme Court’s chamber judge against it, which forwarded the appeal to a regular appeals bench that heard it on Wednesday.
