Rajshahi police bombed twice in 20 minutes

Police in Rajshahi came twice under bomb attack on Tuesday night, leaving three of their personnel injured ahead of the 36-hour shutdown sponsored by the BNP and allies.

Some youths lobbed bombs at a patrol car in the city’s suburb injuring Constable Munir at around 8pm, Boalia Model Police Station OC Ziaur Rahman told bdnews24.com.

Two Rajshahi Medical College fifth-year students Mushfiq Jahan, 25, and Selim Reza, 25, were arrested at the scene, he said.

Around 20 minutes later, five crude bombs were hurled in from outside the eastern walls at around 8:20pm, he said. ”Constables Firoz Uddin and Dabir Uddin were injured. One of the bombs directly hit Firoz Uddin.”

The three injured policemen, with Firoz Uddin in critical condition, were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.

Two more Islami Chhatra Shibir men were nabbed at around 8:30pm, but the OC could not provide identities instantly.
