The raid came after the law keepers detained party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the evening.

A member of police’s Bomb Disposal Unit said they were getting ready to defuse 10 homemade bombs.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Mehedi Hasan had said before that they had recovered six crude bombs from there.

Earlier in the day, the opposition alliance’s rally in front of the BNP headquarters ended up in chaos as several crude bombs were detonated.

The opposition alliance made the strike call as its supporters started demanding one for Tuesday after their Monday’s rally ended in smoke.

The first of the bombs were found at around 6:45pm, wrapped in scotch tapes. The bombs were kept in a bucket.

A group of journalists are accompanying police in the raid which is being aired live.
