Khaleda’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal informed journalists about the press conference after the one-hour emergency meeting, held at her Gulshan office, ended around 9.45pm on Thursday.

“The opposition leader will meet journalists at her Gulshan office at 5pm Friday,” he said.

He said the meeting discussed the state of affairs in the country after the recent countrywide ‘violence’ following the ICT verdict on Jamaat-e-Islam stalwart Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, ASM Hannan Shah, Mirza Abbas, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

She had only returned home from Singapore where she underwent treatment.

A Singapore Airlines flight carrying the former Prime Minister landed at Shahjalal International Airport at around 8.40pm, Kamal told bdnews24.com.

Khaleda had left Bangladesh on Feb 19.

The parley came hours after BNP’s key ally Jamaat-e-Islami announced nonstop shutdown for Sunday and Monday over Thursday’s death sentence for its executive council member Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

BNP is yet to comment on the verdict.
