Dhaka, Feb 17 (bdnews24.com) – Taheruddin Thakur, one of the main accused in the case filed for the assassinations of independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and four national leaders in jail, died Tuesday.
A diabetic, he died at the BIRDEM hospital in the city of heart failure at 9am, a doctor of the hospital said, requesting anonymity.
Thakur, the state minister for information in the cabinet of Sheikh Mujib, fondly called Bangabandhu, had been suffering from kidney diseases.
He had been going through hemo-dialysis as part of kidney treatment and got water in his lungs, leading to the heart failure, the doctor added.
Thakur, who also did journalism in daily Ittefaq, was cleared of the charges in the Bangabandhu Murder Case.
