Dhaka, Feb 18 (BDNEWS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of police Friday confiscated the copies of two books of former information minister and Awami League leader Prof Abu Sayeed raiding his house.
Prof Sayeed alleged that the plainclothes men entered into his house forcibly and took away the copies of his two books - 'Aghoshito Juddher Blue Print' and 'Brutal Crime-Documents' - that portrayed the rise of extremist zealots and brutality descended on the opposition activists after 2001 parliament election.
The drive took place just after a press briefing at his Dhanmondi residence where Sayeed described various points of the books to the journalists.
Prof Sayeed told BDNEWS that during the raid he wanted to see search warrant from the cops but they did not produce any.
"As he (Sayeed) published the books without taking clearance from the Special Branch (SB) of police, we seized the books," DB police said.
Prof Sayeed, later, in a statement expressed his deep concern over the incident saying this was a clear violation of the constitution and human rights. The government is trying to stop the progressive opinion in a fascist way, he added.
