Dhaka-Delhi relations at all-time high, says Bangladesh high commissioner

Bangladesh-India relations are currently at an all-time high, Bangladesh High Commissioner in India Syed Muazzem Ali has said.

The envoy, who is on a three-day visit to Agartala, capital of the Indian state of Tripura, made the observation at the Agrarala Press Club on Thursday evening.
 
He said the two nations, now in a “win-win situation”, were poised to embark on a host of new projects.
 
He said the two countries were coordinating and exchanging information on terrorism-related matters to eradicate the menace.
 
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said she would show zero tolerance as far as terrorism is concern and she has kept her promise.
 
“She has not allowed any terrorist organisation to operate from Bangladesh.
 
“She has even handed over terrorists who had taken shelter in our country in the past. There has been similar response from the Indian side as well,” Ali said.
 
But he called for continuing vigil, as some of the border areas were hard to access.
 
He cited instances of terrorist organisations making inroads into India and setting off blasts (the Burdwan explosions).
 
“So both sides should be more vigilant so that the principle on which we are building our relations and future growth prospects are not be disturbed,” Ali said.
 
Ali said India and Bangladesh were emphasising the revival of pre-partition connectivity, which, he stressed, were crucial to the region’s development.
