‘Nekabborer Mahaproyan’ dominates National Film Award 2014; actors Hasan Imam, Rani Sarkar honoured

Director Masud Pathik’s film ‘Nekabbarer Mohaprayan’ has become the biggest winner, bagging seven awards at the National Film Award 2014.

Apart from the best film award, the film also clinched best music director, singer (female), composer, lyricist, makeup and producer awards at a ceremony in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the awards to 29 artists and film professionals selected in 26 categories.

Eminent actors Syed Hasan Imam and Rani Sarkar were given the lifetime achievement awards.

Jahidur Rahim Anjan won the best director and best dialogue awards for his film ‘Meghomollar’, while the best documentary award went to ‘Garhiwala’.

Ferdous Ahmed took home the best actor award for his role in ‘Ek Cup Cha’ and the best actress award was shared by Bidya Sinha Saha Mim for ‘Jonakir Alo’ and Arifa Zaman Moushumi for ‘Tarkanta’.

The best supporting actor award went to Shah Md Ezazul Islam for ‘Tarkanta’, while Chitra Lekha Guho won the best supporting actress slot for her role in ‘Ekattorer Ma Jononi’.

The best actor in a negative role has gone to Tarik Anam Khan for ‘Desha – The Leader’ and Misha Sawdagor, best known for his roles as villains in several films, won the best comedy actor award for ‘Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo’.

The film ‘Boishommo’, directed, written and produced by bdnews24.com’s Head of English Service and Broadcast Training Adam Dawla, bagged two awards - Abir Hossain Ankon won the best child actor award and Mohammad Hossain Jemmy best cinematographer.

The best child actress special award went to Marzan Hossain Jara for ‘Meghomolllar’.

Mahfuz Anam James won the best singer (male) award for the song ‘Potakata Khamchate Kokhono Ase Jodi’ in ‘Desha – The Leader’.

The best singer (female) award was shared by Runa Laila for ‘Priya Tumi Sukhi Hou’ and Momtaz for ‘Nekabbarer Mohaprayan’.

Late writer Akhtaruzzaman Ilias won the best storywriter award for ‘Meghomolllar’. His brother Nuruzzaman Ilias received the award on his behalf.

The best screenwriter and best editor awards went to Saikat Nasir and Towhid Hossain Chowdhury, respectively, for ‘Desha – The Leader’.

Maruf Samurai won the best art director award for ‘Tarkanta’, Ratan Pal best sound recording for ‘Meghomolllar’ and Kanak Chanpa Chakma best costume and decoration award for her work in ‘Jonakir Alo’.
