Tanveer grabs four but Duckett, Hameed shine for England XI

England were bowled out for 256 after Duckett cracked a fine 101-ball 60 and Hameed batted in two spells for 57 off 125 balls.

The two-day match ended in a draw at Chittagong's MA Aziz Stadium on Monday.

Hameed and Duckett paired in an attractive 90-run opening stand. The latter retired after getting his fourth half-century on Bangladesh soil which will surely keep him in the hunt for a Test spot.

But 24-year-old Tanveer took the spotlight on Monday.

After the BCB XI scored 294 the previous day, the English openers were cautious. But after they went back, Tanveer was on a roll.

His skills with the bat are more useful than his bowling in domestic cricket. But the tourists seemed to have no answer to his leg-break as he took out Joe Root (24), Jonny Bairstow (6) and Jos Buttler (4) in the space of 24 runs.

Gary Ballance (36 not out) then spent nearly two crucial hours at one end while wickets kept falling regularly at the other.

Ben Stokes (25) was taken out by Subashis Roy and, being short on runs on the tour, Moeen Ali, like Bairstow, could not make most of the opportunity. He fell to Mosaddek Hossain for 15.

Chris Woakes went for the shots in the lower order, smashing three boundaries and a six for 23, before Tanveer returned to snare his wicket.

Taskin Ahmed, who began the day with two deliveries that hurried on to Hameed to hit the batsman, finished things off with a beautiful yorker to send back Gareth Batty.

Playing with the red ball after a long time, the young pacer bowled 13.2 overs and showed decent pace and attacking flair on a slow surface.

Al-Amin Hossain bowled miserly and gave away just eight runs from 10 overs, including seven maidens.

Although Mehedi Hasan Miraz was in the team, his bowling will remain a secret to England as he did not bowl a single over.

The first Test between Bangladesh and England begins on Thursday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
