The Sri Lankan attended his first press conference after returning from vacation in Australia.

"I am really optimistic because the conditions are going to challenge them. We are improving as a team. I am hopeful we can do something that we haven’t done before," he said on Thursday.

A number of seniors, including Michael Clarke, Chris Rogers, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson, signed out of the Australian team following their Ashes defeat in England last month.
Injured Aussie opener David Warner remains doubtful for the series while Cricket Australia said it might rest fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Josh Hazlewood.
So a new-look Australia team is expected for the series. The batting unit, in particular, will lack experience.
"You can’t take them lightly. They have the best system in the world to produce cricketers. Recently their A team did well in India. It is going to be a challenge in any way,"
"Regardless whoever comes, playing against Australia is a big task for us."
The Australian team are set to arrive in Bangladesh on Sep 28 to play two Tests.
Australia have innings victories in three out of four Test matches played between the countries. They won the other by three wickets.
