The Tigers also called up leg-spinner Jubair Hossain for the first time in T20Is while paceman Rubel Hossain returned to the side in the shortest form after recovering from an injury.

Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday announced a 14-member squad for the 20-over matches that will be played on Jul 5 and 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Gazi got his first call up since his bowling action was cleared by the ICC in February this year.

His last international action came in August last year, against West Indies in ODIs, before he was suspended for an illegal action in October.

In the 2014-15 domestic season, the 23-year old took 37 wickets at an average of 37.94 in nine first-class matches, and 17 List A wickets.

He also scored two centuries and two fifties.

Gazi played his last T20I against Australia in the World T20 last year.

He fills in the role of specialist spinner in the side.

Selectors said they decided to go with Gazi considering the domination of left-handed batsmen in the South Africa team.

Jubair, who has not played any T20 matches at any level of the game, has been given the nod to add to Bangladesh’s spin arsenal.

After injury ruled him out of the series against India, all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad misses out again as he is yet to recover.

Paceman Taskin Ahmed is also out with an injury while Abul Hasan has been left out.

Batsman Rony Talukder will make his international bow in this series.
