Anamul was injured in the match against Scotland at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Thursday, a game Bangladesh won by six wickets.

BCB media manager said after the match that Anamul had suffered a shoulder dislocation.

Imrul was playing for Khulna in the National Cricket League at the time Bangladesh was chasing a mighty Scotland score in the World Cup 2015 match in New Zealand.

He told the media that he got a call from chief selector Farooq Ahmed in the afternoon, telling him about the decision.

A regular in the Bangladesh squad during the previous World Cup four years back, Imrul was kept out of the reckoning for the current tournament.

He was the only Bangladeshi player to have been judged the Man of the Match in two successive outings for his scintillating performance against England and the Netherlands in the World Cup 2011.

Imrul is scheduled to leave for Australia on Thursday night.

Bangladesh will take on England at Adelaide on Monday.

Anamul badly hurt himself on the shoulder while diving to prevent a boundary in the 31st over of the Scotland innings.

He was rushed to hospital for a medical scan.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza said doctors would examine Anamul again at Adelaide.

It was too early to comment on the extent of the injury, he said.

Anamul later returned to the stadium from the hospital to savour with his team mates Bangladesh’s six-wicket win.
