Gold to glitter more for Bangladeshi customers as prices lowered

Gold is likely to glitter more for Bangladeshi ornament lovers as the jewellers lowered the prices following a drop in price in global gold market. The new price will be effective from Monday.

The price of gold from Monday will be Tk 1,458 per bhori (11.664 grams), according to a statement issued by Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BJS) on Sunday.

The prices have been lowered to adjust with the price with the global market, BJS General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwal told bdnews24.com.

"We always adjust the local market price with international market. Recently global prices have dropped. That's why we've lowered the price," he said.  

Gold prices shot up to Tk 2,425 per bhori in two phases in June for the last time this year.

From Monday, silver price will also drop by Tk 292 per bhori.

The new gold prices (per bhori/11.664gm) are:

22 carat – Tk 46,889

21 carat – Tk 44,673

18 carat – Tk 38,491

Traditional gold – Tk 26,011

New silver price (per bhori/11.664gm):

21 carat (cadmium) silver - Tk 993
