Citibank, UCEP organise  technical education programme graduation ceremony

Citibank NA Bangladesh and Underprivileged Children’s Educational Program Bangladesh (UCEP) have organised a graduation ceremony for 120 students who were enrolled in the Citi UCEP Technical Education Program in 2015.

The occasion also marked programmes 2016 chapter inauguration, the bank said in a media release on Tuesday. 

ABM Khorshed Alam, Chief Executive Officer, National Skills Development Council, was present as chief guest. Rashed Maqsood, Citi Country Officer, Zaki Hasan, CEO UCEP, Prof M Hafizul Islam, Member, UCEP Association, were present in the event held on Tuesday, the release said.

Citi Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Citigroup Inc, has been implementing the Citi UCEP Technical Education project since 2013, according to the release.

With the Foundation’s funding of $55,000, UCEP provided technical education to 60 underprivileged youths in 2014 and 120 in 2015. 

In 2015 program, 120 were trained in industrial sewing operations. The course duration was six months and the program was implemented at UCEP Gazipur Technical School, the release said.
