Hsina calls for investment in EPZs from expatriate Bangladeshis

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined a reception by expatriate Bangladeshis in the US and called for their investment in the 100 Economic Processing Zones to be set up in the country.

She also spoke about success stories of her government at the function in a New York hotel on Wednesday (local time).

"Bangladesh is moving forward and no-one can stop us," she said and vowed to earn the country middle-income status within 2021 and make it developed in 2041.

"We have been building the Padma Bridge with our own money," she said.

She also thanked her son Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy for 'Digital Bangladesh'.

"It has been possible because of him. He is my computer teacher. He has received award. I am proud of him as the mother," Hasina said.

Joy, who spearheads the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ campaign as a voluntary adviser to his mother, received the ‘ICT for Development Award’ in New York Monday for his “outstanding leadership and commitment towards ICT and Competitiveness as a tool for sustainable development”.
