Turnover at Dhaka stocks hits eight-month high

In a sign of growing investor confidence, Dhaka stocks turnover has hit an eight-month high on Wednesday crossing the Tk 6 billion mark.

Analysts had predicted a bullish trend at the country's prime bourse after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

At the end of the day's trading, shares worth Tk 6.14 billion changed hands, up from Tk 5.36 billion the previous day.

On Jan 20 this year, turnover crossed the Tk 6 billion mark, clocking at Tk 6.69 billion.

The benchmark DSEX index edged up by 21.01 points or 0.45 percent to 4660.14 points.

Of the 322 scrips traded on Wednesday, 172 gained, 91 lost while 59 held steady.
