Karwan Bazar retailer Rajan Sarkar said on Friday he was selling unpacked soybean oil at Tk 88 per litre, palm oil Tk 60 and super palm oil Tk 70 per litre.

Wholesale Edible Oil Traders Association leader Mohammad Ali Bhutto said they were selling loose soybean oil at Tk 74 a litre.

“I can’t say whether the price has also dropped in the retail markets,” he said.

According to Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), unpacked soybean oil was being sold at Tk 84 to 86 a litre. The price was between Tk 85 and Tk 86 last week, TCB said.

The wholesalers cut edible oil prices by Tk 5 per litre last Saturday.

Meanwhile, ample supply of winter vegetables led to the fall in prices.

The price of bean was Tk 25 a kg, tomato Tk 20, green chilli Tk 30, imported onion Tk 25, local onion Tk 28, cauliflower Tk 15 a piece and cabbage Tk 20 a piece, according to retailer Masud Hasan.

New seasonal potato was being sold at Tk 18 to 22 a kg. The price hit as high as Tk 100 per kg earlier in the season.

The prices of meats have also dropped.

Beef was being sold at Tk 380 a kg and farm chicken Tk 135.

In December beef priced Tk 420 a kg and farm chicken Tk 140 to 145.

Trader ‘Ajiur’ said demand for fowls rises in winter.

On Friday, a pair of ducks was being sold at Tk 500, Chinese duck Tk 1,100 and swan Tk 1,800 to 2,000.
