Each gram of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 130 more while each gram of silver will cost Tk 5 more.

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), in a statement on Saturday, said the new rate for gold and silver would be effective from Sunday.

An ounce of gold was being traded at $1,160 in the international market, according to Reuters.

BAJUS raised gold prices on Aug 6 but later reduced it on several occasions.

“We’ve raised the prices in keeping with the international market,” BAJUS General Secretary Enamul Haq Khan told bdnews24.com.

Each bhori of gold will cost Tk 43,273 from Sunday.

Silver prices have been hiked by Tk 58 per bhori.
