Ahmed has sought a ‘tolerable’ rate of the tax at source for the sector.
He was speaking in the budget discussion in Parliament on Sunday.
He also urged the finance minister to give tax holiday for setting up poultry farms.
The commerce minister suggested raising duty on import of goods in order to boost the expansion of domestic industry.
“I had reduced duty on pulp and raised on paper. Now our paper industry is self-sufficient,” he said.
