Dhaka, June 16 (bdnews24.com) — Beximco has bought into Westin Hotel investing about Tk 1.6 billion to finance a substantial expansion of the five-star in Gulshan.
According to an agreement signed on Wednesday, Beximco's investment will lead to almost doubling the hotel's rooms and building a banquet hall with a seating capacity of 2000.
Beximco's deputy chairman Salman F Rahman and Noor Ali, managing director of the owning company Unique Hotels and Resorts, signed the deal at Westin, managed by the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc.
"We are happy to be associated with Westin Hotel," Rahman said at the signing ceremony.
The fund will be utilised to increase the hotel's room capacity to 441 from existing 241 and building a banquet hall with 2,000 seating capacity, according to Noor Ali.
"It will be built on the 46 kathas (1 katha ~ 1.67 decimals) adjoining to the hotel," he added.
