Bangladesh, Cambodia sign trade agreement

Dhaka, Aug 6 (BDNEWS) - A Trade Agreement was signed between Bangladesh and Cambodia in Phnom Penh on Friday, according to a message received here Sunday.
Senior Minister of Commerce of Cambodia Dr. Cham Prasidh signed the agreement for Combodia. The Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia Shahed Akhter signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh Government.
The trade agreement would help in further expanding and strengthening trade relations between the two countries. The agreement will establish the principles of equality and mutual benefit and most favoured nation treatment for enhancing economic developments in the two countries. Both the countries will take appropriate measures to facilitate, strengthen, consolidate and diversify the trade on a long term and stable basis.
The trade agreement will also help in strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Cambodia.
Bangladesh's export items to Cambodia are readymade garments, footwear and leather goods, knitwear, pharmaceuticals, tableware, home linen, textile, seafood and marine products, tea, potato, jute and jute goods, light engineering products, spices, cosmetics, ceramic and melamine products, toiletries etc.
Bangladesh's import items are: Cotton, edible oil, fertilizer, clinker, staple fibre, yarn, capital machinery etc.
