BNP chief Khaleda Zia has threatened an anti-government movement if a bill to hold the national polls under a non-party government is not placed in parliament. Zia issued the warning at a rally in Khulna.

“We will wait until Oct 25 to see if the caretaker bill is placed or not. Your (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's) reign will end if the bill isn’t brought before Oct 25,” she thundered.
As the 15th amendment to the Constitution scrapped the provision of holding the national election under a caretaker government, the coming election is due to be held under the current government, an arrangement the BNP is vehemently opposing.
The BNP chief said people have already showed the Awami League the yellow card when they elected a BNP-backed candidate as the Khulna city mayor.
