Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations started at 2,352 centres under 10 education boards, including madrasa and technical boards, on Thursday.

As many as 1,141,374 stduents — 606,293 boys and 535,081 girls — from 8,104 schools are taking the exams this year.
On the first day, students are appearing for Bangla 1st Paper that started at 10am.
The number of students taking the exams this year has risen by 128,793.
Last year, 1,012,581 students sat for these exams.
The examinations in the theoretical subjects will end on June 5, while practicals are scheduled between June 7-16.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told a media conference on Wednesday that 924,171 students are taking the exams under the eight general education boards, 107,557 under the Madrasha Education Board, 104,669 under technical education and 4,977 will appear for exams for the DIBS (Diploma in Business Studies).
