The food ministry has claimed no rotten or inconsumable wheat was found in test on imports from Brazil.

The ministry issued a press statement on Wednesday.
“The wheat from Brazil is found as per the contract direction. The test report has found no wheat that is rotten or unfit for human consuption,” the statement said.
The statement said the ministry collected sealed samples of wheat from deputy commissioners across the country and retested them in the laboratory, following negative reports in the media.
Earlier, media reports said the ministry imported rotten and inconsumable wheat from Brazil.
Following the criticism, Food Minister Qamrul Islam told Parliament on Saturday that the ministry would not import wheat from Brazil again.
He also said the ministry carrying on test if the imported grain was rotten.
The statement said the wheat was imported after complying with proper rules.
The shipment was received at the port after laboratory tests, it said.
