The prime minister gave the order under her executive powers, a public administration ministry official said on Wednesday.
“Government employees will have to make up for the day on Jul 16,” he told bdnews24.com adding that the process to issue a circular was underway.
With Jul 4 (Monday) as a public holiday now after the Shab-e-Qadr holiday the previous day, offices will remain closed from Jul 1 to 9.
The Eid-ul-Fitr will be held on either Jul 6 or 7 depending on sighting of the moon.
