The deposition of the witnesses in the Japanese national Kunio Hoshi murder case has begun at the special court in Rangpur.

Two key witnesses - plaintiff and the then Kaunia OC Rezaul Karim, and Sarai Union Parishad Chairman Ashraful Haque - gave sworn statements before the court and were cross-examined by the defence counsels on Wednesday.
Judge Naresh Chandra Sarkar then fixed Jan 23 to 25 as the next dates for recording witness statements, before adjourning court for the day, prosecution lawyer Ratish Chandra Bhaumik Babu Sona said.
Ratish also said that the court intends to record the statements of five witnesses per day and thus complete the deposition process for a total of 15 witnesses in three days.
